Al Ula, situated at 678 meters above sea level, has a Subtropical desert climate. With an average yearly temperature of 28 °C, slightly higher than Saudi Arabia's averages, it receives around 4.88 millimeters of precipitation over 12.05 rainy days annually. Winter, from October to April, is the ideal time for exploration, offering events, cultural activities, and winter-specific programs. Summers, from May to August, bring moderate weather, encouraging outdoor activities, museum visits, and enjoyable evenings with a cool breeze.

How to Get There

Al Ula International Airport is located around 15 km from the city center and is accessible via direct and connecting flights from various locations. To reach the city center, travelers can opt for taxis or apps like Uber and Careem, both taking approximately 20 minutes. Car rental offices are available at the airport.

• Jabal Al-Fil: Providing a serene setting, Jabal Al-Fil allows visitors to enjoy the sun's reflection and sunset views. With ground seating areas designed for relaxation, an international restaurant offers delicious dishes. Free entry is available on specified weekdays and weekends.
• Al Ula Old Town: As the second-largest ancient city after Makkah, Al Ula Old Town impresses with unique architecture, alleys, and historic sites. Moussa Ben Noussair Castle provides an amazing view, and the town has rich Islamic monuments and bustling markets.
• Hijaz Railway Station at Al Ula: Distinguished among the 32 stations of the Hijaz Railway, Al Ula's station has historical significance. Al Ula, a natural wonder, has captivating rock formations like Elephant Rock, Raqasat (Dancing Rocks), and Harrat Uwayrid. The oasis in Wadi AlQura offers respite with date palm groves and citrus trees. Adventure seekers can explore canyons, mountain trails, and the 14km Cycling Trail. Al Ula doesn't have a vibrant nightlife due to the prohibition of alcohol in the city. Nevertheless, you still can enjoy its growing entertainment scene with numerous cafes, and international or local restaurants where you can have mocktails or authentic Arabic coffee.

In Al Ula, you will have many options for shopping. Discover the Golden Alfred Complex, a family-friendly shopping destination featuring diverse shops, restaurants serving local and international cuisine, and a play area for children.
Bin Eid Market on Al-Madinah Road provides essential supplies for a comfortable stay in Al Ula, offering a range of food items, home utensils, and barbecue tools. Explore the rich history of Old Al Ula at the local market, where shops showcase traditional clothes, jewelry, antiques, and handmade crafts. Open from May 1 to June 22 and July 3 to September 30, the market also offers a local culinary experience. 
Souq Shaker is another traditional shopping spot, with narrow streets filled with the aroma of spices, local foods, and a variety of stores selling women's clothing, jewelry, and children's clothes.
