Transportation to Airport from Ho Chi Minh City City Center
Tan Son Nhat Intl. Airport
In Ho Chi Minh City center, called also Saigon / District 1, you can see many public transport means. It takes about 40-45 minutes to get to Tan Son Nhat Airport with public buses, which are also very popular in urban transportation. If you want to have a faster and more comfortable journey, you can choose to take a taxi or rent a car. It is possible to reach the airport in maximum 10 minutes in this way.
Bus
Buses, the cheapest means of public transportation, have 152 different routes in Ho Chi Minh City. These public buses, which are light cream and green in color, are in the size of a minibus and provide a very convenient transportation service between 6 am and 6 pm. Bus number 152, which departs every half an hour from the Ben Tanh Market district, which is a 15 minute walk from the city center, goes to both Tan Son Nhat Airport's domestic and international terminals. It is very easy and economical to get to the airport from Ho Chi Minh by these buses which are departing every 30 minutes. Another alternative to reach Calipatria by bus is to take the tram first and then get off at El Cajon, the transfer point where you can take a bus to El Centro. If you don't want to wait too long, you can take directly a taxi at San Diego International Airport to reach Calipatria in about 3 hours. However, traveling without bus or tram transfer could be extremely costly. Also, you can bargain with a taxi driver at the airport and so you can enjoy going to Calipatria by a less costly taxi ride. Please keep in mind that your journey to Calipatria will always be more expensive compared to bus or tram transfer on this route, even if you negotiate with the driver about the taxi fare in advance.
Rent a car
If you prefer a more comfortable and independent transfer option from the airport to Calipatria, you can rent a car in San Diego. Moreover, car rental and fuel charges in the country are quite reasonable. However, there is one thing that we can say car rental could be a disadvantageous option. After a long and tiring flight, you will need to drive about 3 hours from the airport to Calipatria. If you wish, you can take a break from driving and rest for a more comfortable ride.
