About Alta
Located in the north of Norway, Alta is known for its harsh year-round Arctic climate. As a result of its location, this charming town spends most of its year under snow. Walking down the streets that are lined with cute, two-story houses, you can sometimes see deer and other wild animals roaming about as well.
The region's most famous attraction, one that attracts visitors from all over the world, is the hotel constructed each year that is made entirely out of ice. Each year, the hotel is open to visitors during the winter season. Alta is also a great place to see the Northern Lights, as well as to visit the town's Old Church and do some clothes shopping as well.
Of course it is preferable to visit Alta during the winter season - which here lasts from December to April - but if you want to visit when the weather is less harsh, the town also has a different sort of green beauty from June to July as well.
