About Cuneo

Cuneo is an adorable city having a population of 595,000 people. It is located in the Piedmont region of Italy located on the border of France. Cuneo sits on a plateau above the junction of the Stura di Demonte and Gesso rivers. The name of the city which means “wedge” in Italian reflects its shape. The city, established on the foothills of the Maritime Alps, is also the center of city it is located in and has the same name.

Galimberti Square is one of the most important places to be visited in the city. There are many restaurants, cafes and stores around the square where a market is set up on Tuesdays. On this market, local products are sold. Other places to be visited in the city are Galimberti Museum, the historical and archeological museum located in the square, Dell'Argentera Park, where many natural valleys and lakes are located, Torre Civica tower where the city and the sunset can be watched and General Bonaparte Museum where uniforms belonging to Napoleon Bonaparte (who ruled the city for about a quarter century), clothes and drawings belonging to the period are exhibited. The only airport in the city, which can be reached in a few hours from cities like Milan, Genoa and Torino, is Cuneo Airport located 20 kilometers north. Transportation to the airport is provided by bus.
