About Verona

Verona is the tourist center of Italy and it is located in the Veneto region in the northern part of the country. It is right in the middle of Milano and Venice. Verona has also been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List thanks to its historical and cultural texture it has preserved so far. The Adige River, the second largest river in Italy, divides the city into two parts. Verona, supposedly founded by the Etruscans, became an important policy and trade center during the Roman Empire period. The city, which was ruined by a strong earthquake in the Middle Ages, was rebuilt in the Romanesque architectural style. Today, the city is home to many buildings dating from this period. Verona is also home to the world's most famous love tragedy. Rome and Juliet, the children of Capulet and Montague families who had a feud between them, lived in this city with their endless love that ended up with death.

When the work written by the Italian writer Matteo Bandello based on a true story was scripted by William Shakespeare, love of Romeo and Juliet and consequently the city of Verona has gained a reputation all over the world. Juliet's house, one of the places where the tragedy was experienced, is today the most frequently visited sight in the city.

The most important historical structure of Verona is the Arena, dating from the Roman period. It is located in Bra Square, the most crowded and central point of the city. Arena, the third largest amphitheater in the world today, hosts the Opera Festival, which is held in summer every year and the most important event in this field. The Arena, which was built in 30 AD similar to the Colosseum in Rome, has a capacity of 30.000 spectators. Bra Square, Erbe Square, Juliet's House, Castelvecchio, Adige River and bridge, and the Lamberti Tower are the city's main tourist attractions. The temperate climate is effective in Verona. Verona Airport is located 5 kilometers southwest of the city center.

Verona Villafranca Airport

Verona Villafranca Airport is not very far from the city center. For this reason, it is possible to reach the city center easily and quickly. You can also reach the city center by taxi. If you want a private car for your transportation, it is possible to rent a car at the airport. Most of the hotels in the city offer airport shuttle service for its guests. You can also get to the city center by airport shuttle buses. You can also reach the different points by using the train station in the city center.

Taxi

You can see the taxis waiting at the exit of the arrival terminal of the airport. Three different companies offer taxi service all day long and it lasts about 15 minutes to reach the city center from the airport by taxi.

Car Rental

Ten different car rental companies offer service at the airport. International companies such as Avis, Hertz, Sixt and Europcar are among these companies. You can reach the city center in about 15 minutes by connecting to the highway SS12 through the highway SR62.

Shuttle Bus

Thanks to the shuttle bus service organized by Aerobus company, you can travel from the airport to Porta Nuova Train Station located in Verona city center. The bus number that you should get on is 199. Shuttle buses depart every 20 minutes. They operate from 06:30 am to 11:30 pm every day. There are two additional services at 05:35 am and 00:48 am. The travel to the city center last about 15 minutes. Ticket price is 6,00 Euro.
