However, to get to the airport from the city center you have to first take the metro and then get on a bus. From central locations in the city like the Old City, Cafer Cabbari, and Khatai you can take the metro to the 28 May and Koroglu stations. From here you can get on bus line 116, which runs to the airport or take a taxi to the airport.   

Personal Car

Since the city is rich in oil, fuel is cheap, making traveling by car a very attractive option. Getting to the city center from the airport is very easy. One of the city’s most important avenues, Heydar Aliyev Avenue will connect you to the Boyuk Shor Highway, which goes to the airport. From the highway take the Airport exit. The airport contains indoor and outdoor parking lots where you can park your personal car for a certain fee.

Although it is not very large Heydar Aliyev International Airport is an important junction, especially for passengers traveling between Europe and Asia. The airport offers passengers a variety of eating, drinking, and shopping venues.

The airport has 2 terminals, Terminal 1, which was completely renovated, and Terminal 2, which serves domestic flights. The airport contains world famous fast food chains like Burger King, McDonald’s, and KFC, as well as restaurants that offer delicious flavors unique to Azerbaijani cuisine.

The international terminal has a large Duty Free shop as well as souvenir shops where you can buy items unique to Russian and Azeri culture. The airport features free wireless internet connection. 

The small city of Aachen does not have an airport that operates international flights. However, those traveling to Aachen use either Cologne Bonn International Airport or Düsseldorf International Airport because Aachen is in such close proximity to both cities.

To get to the city of Aachen you can use Cologne Bonn International Airport or Düsseldorf International Airport. There are a variety of transportation alternatives to get to Aachen from both airports, including trains, taxis, airport shuttle services, or rental car. It takes about 1 hour to get to Aachen city center from both airports.

Train

Traveling by train is a very common means of transportation in Germany. Taking a train from either Cologne Bonn International Airport or Düsseldorf International Airport to Aachen city center takes about 1 hour. The train is a very convenient way to get to the city from either airport.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available at the terminal exits of both airports. A taxi to Aachen city center from both Cologne Bonn International Airport and Düsseldorf International Airport costs around 125 euros. Under normal traffic conditions it takes about 45 minutes to get to Aachen from both airports.

Shuttle Service

Cologne Bonn International Airport and Düsseldorf International Airport also serve small cities in the area so there is a well develop shuttle service network, which is operated by private companies. These companies have an assorted fleet of vehicles, which range from small vehicles to large buses, and they go along many different routes. There are many rental car companies located at both airports. To get to Aachen from Cologne Bonn International Airport follow the A4 motorway. To get to Aachen from Düsseldorf International Airport follow the A44 motorway. Under normal traffic conditions it takes about 1 hour to get to Aachen from both airports.
