The city’s only airport is the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, named after the National Leader and third President of Azerbaijan. The airport serves 5 million passengers annually.

You can get to the airport, which is located 25 km away, from the city center by car or a combination of the metro and airport buses.

Airport Buses

The easiest and cheapest way to get to the airport from the city center is by airport bus. Bus line 116 departs from Vurgun Park, located in central Baku, and takes about 50 minutes to get to the airport.

Metro

The metro system in Baku provides transportation to many central locations in the city like the Old City, 28 May Street, and the Caspian Sea. However, to get to the airport from the city center you have to first take the metro and then get on a bus. From central locations in the city like the Old City, Cafer Cabbari, and Khatai you can take the metro to the 28 May and Koroglu stations. From here you can get on bus line 116, which runs to the airport or take a taxi to the airport.   

Personal Car

Since the city is rich in oil, fuel is cheap, making traveling by car a very attractive option. Getting to the city center from the airport is very easy. One of the city’s most important avenues, Heydar Aliyev Avenue will connect you to the Boyuk Shor Highway, which goes to the airport. From the highway take the Airport exit. The airport contains indoor and outdoor parking lots where you can park your personal car for a certain fee.

Airport Information

Although it is not very large Heydar Aliyev International Airport is an important junction, especially for passengers traveling between Europe and Asia. The airport offers passengers a variety of eating, drinking, and shopping venues.

The airport has 2 terminals, Terminal 1, which was completely renovated, and Terminal 2, which serves domestic flights. The airport contains world famous fast food chains like Burger King, McDonald’s, and KFC, as well as restaurants that offer delicious flavors unique to Azerbaijani cuisine.

The international terminal has a large Duty Free shop as well as souvenir shops where you can buy items unique to Russian and Azeri culture. The airport features free wireless internet connection. 

Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski International Airport is only 3.5 kilometers from Bydgoszcz city center; thus it is possible to reach the city center at a very short time. Taking a taxi or bus are the most preferred transportation options. Hotel shuttles are another option. However, if you want to use a single vehicle during your trip, you can also rent a car from the airport.

Taxi

Taxis are taking passengers right in front of the terminal building. Since the airport is very close to the city center, taxis are preferred as a convenient means of transportation. By taxi you can get to the city center in only 7-8 minutes.

Hotel Shuttle

Some hotels in Bydgoszcz offer an airport shuttle for their guests based on fare. You can make use of this service by making a reservation in advance. Although the cost of the hotel shuttles is a little high, the vehicle will be ready at the airport when you land and you will be able to reach your hotel effortlessly since your driver will meet you at the baggage delivery point.

Car Rental

You can rent a vehicle suitable for your budget from the airport from one of the 6 six different car rental companies and reach to the city center in less than 10 minutes via the DK25 highway. If you arrange your rentals online or by phone before your journey, your car will be ready at the airport and you will not waste your time.

Bus

From the bus stop on the right side of the airport terminal you can easily reach the city center by taking the bus number 80. Since the last stop on this line is Bydgoszcz Main Railway Station, there are many possibilities to transfer. The bus operates between 04:40 and midnight on weekdays, between 04:40 and 23:00 on Saturdays, and between 06:08 and 23:00 on Sundays, with an interval of half an hour. The journey takes only 15 minutes under normal traffic conditions.
