There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. If you would like to get to the center from Bukhara Airport by means of public transport, you can take a bus from in front of the terminal. Thanks to the short distance between the airport and the city, the bus ride does not last very long, and the ticket fares are also very affordable. The bus ride would last around 20 minutes usually. You need to buy your bus ticket in Uzbekistan Som, currency of the country. This is why you have to be sure to have local currency with you before you board the bus. If you would not want to walk to your destination after arriving to the center by bus, you can continue with a taxi.

Taxi

You can easily find a taxi at the airport especially during the periods with busy flight schedules. Although the fare of the taxis in Bukhara would depend on the distance you travel, it is possible to say that they are low generally. If you are not well informed about the roads in the city, you are advised to get information about the estimated route and fares from the driver in advance.

Car Rental

Getting to the center of Bukhara by renting a car is one of the frequently used transportation options. The close proximity of the city center to the airport results in a short car ride between the two. The things that you should keep in mind while renting a car is that you would be expected to have an internationally valid driver’s licence with you and to pay a small amount in advance. By following the road signs, you can end your journey in a short time with your rental car. Keep in mind that if you would like to travel to the capital Tashkent and its surroundings you will have to travel longer. Thus, you would need a navigation device in order to find your way.

Private Vehicle

There are affordable and wide car parks in front of Bukhara Airport welcoming the passengers coming with their private cars. This is why travelling with a private car can easily be included among the options.
