There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Transportation means are not too much and varied for travelling from Mogadishu Airport to the city center, as well as within the center of the city. Still, taxis and rental cars are ready to transport passengers from the airport to the city center in Mogadishu. If you do not want to use a taxi, there is also a chance to rent a car in the city. However, these tools are not large in number and you are not offered a wide range of models. Nevertheless, it is much more convenient, faster and safer than public transport in the city center.

Security is a very important issue in Mogadishu. It is not recommended that foreigners travel alone due to frequent terrorist incidents in the country. If you are coming to town for business and want to visit different parts of the country, you can evaluate the car rental option. While the prices of public transport are affordable in the city, foreigners are not advised to use these means. However, if you want to get public transportation in the city, make sure you have a local guide and do not leave your valuables unattended.

Taxi

Taxis in the city that can help you to easily reach from the airport to the city center of Mogadishu are almost the only option for foreign tourists. You can find yourself in the center of Mogadishu in just a few minutes by taking a taxi from the airport terminal building. If you want to get to the city center by taxi, it is enough to take one of the vehicles waiting for you after you leave the terminal. Make sure you make a deal about the price with the driver before boarding the taxi. Taxi drivers in the city can charge high fares especially from foreign tourists. Before you come to the country or at the airport you will be able to make your business much easier by exchanging your money into the Somali Shilling, the currency of the country.

Car Rental

You can reach the center of the city and other cities in the country by renting a car after landing to the Aden Adde International Airport, which connects the capital of Somalia to different points of the world such as Istanbul, Dubai and Nairobi. Renting a car in the city is one of the best alternatives, especially in an environment where it is not advisable to use public transport for safety reasons. Once you are at the airport, you can easily rent your vehicle and take the way. However, it is not recommended to travel alone in the country for security reasons. If you are planning to rent a car in Mogadishu and travel to other settlements both in and around the city, be sure to have a local guide with you.

Bus

Once you reach the city center from the airport, you can continue by bus. In Mogadishu, buses are often preferred by local people. That's why it's almost always crowded. This prevents buses from being considered as one of the most comfortable and safe vehicles in the city. Especially if you have cash or valuables on you, avoiding buses is very useful. Nevertheless, if you use your preference on the buses, make sure that you have a local guide or a person who knows the city well with you. You can pay for the buses in cash, but make sure you get the currency shilling. In this case, you can complete your journey at much more affordable prices than currencies like dollars or euros.

Private Vehicle

In the city you can also get a private car from the airport to Mogadishu city center. Private vehicles are usually used by the residents of the city and they take the guests from the terminal to the city center. If you are going to use the car, you can be in the center of the city in about 20 minutes after you leave Mogadishu Airport and follow the city center signposts. The airport also has pausing, waiting and parking areas reserved for those arriving by private vehicle. You have a chance to leave your car in these parking lots for a few hours or a few days. However, remember that parking fees are not very low, especially if you pay after 3 days. If you want to get a private car between the airport and the city center, obtaining a navigation device would be lifesaving. If you are going to drive the car yourself, remember that you should not travel alone as a safety precaution.
