There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.  

Airport transfers also include London-style taxis, limousines and luxurious midibuses. All you have to do is to make reservations and be at the place where you want the cars to pick you up.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

Metro, buses and taxis are the other options for the transportation within the city. At Strigino Airport, buses and minibuses are the mostly used vehicles to reach the city center. Car rental companies meet the car demands in Strigino. And taxis operate at the airport as an alternative all day long.

Taxi

You can go to Nizhny Novgorod in about half an hour by using the taxis waiting in front of the terminal building for 24 hours at Strigino Airport. It is an extra ease that they accept payment with both cash and credit card.

Bus

Bus routes 20 and 11 provide transportation to the city center. You can pay the amount in the buses, which operate between 06:00 am and 09:30 pm. Buses depart from the stops in front of the terminal building almost every 15 minutes.

Minibus

You can go to the city center with the minibus routes 29 and 46, which operate only in the evening. Minibuses are in service between 05:50 pm and 11:00 pm.

Car Rental

There are three different car rental companies at Strigino Airport for those who want to rent a car. These companies - Europcar, Paulz and Rentalcars - are open for 24 hours. You can rent a car over telephone and internet or from the offices directly.
