There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.  

Airport transfers also include London-style taxis, limousines and luxurious midibuses. All you have to do is to make reservations and be at the place where you want the cars to pick you up.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

You can easily reach Omaha city center by airport shuttle service, taxi, rental cars or hotel shuttle services, if any. The municipal bus service is the best alternative if you want to reduce your transportation expenses.

Taxi

You can easily see the taxi stand at the exit of the airport luggage delivery area. It is possible to reach the city center from the airport in 20 minutes by taking a taxi under normal traffic conditions.

Rent a car

You can find the offices of car rental companies next to the gate 3 on the lower floor of the terminal building. A total of 9 car rental companies operate at the airport. You can pick up your car at the special parking area, which you can reach easily by passing through the gate 5. You should drive through the Abbott Dr road to reach the city center from the airport.

Bus

If you prefer public transport, you can reach the city center in half an hour by getting on the bus number 16, which departs every 30 minutes.

Hotel Shuttle Service

Some hotels in Omaha offer their own shuttle services. This service is usually a little more costly than taking a taxi; however, it is an extremely fast and convenient way of transportation as the shuttle vehicle will be ready to go when you land and you will be welcomed at the luggage delivery area.
