Transportation to Newcastle City Center from Airport

Newcastle Intl. Airport

Newcastle Airport is located just 10 km from the city center and offers passengers a variety of convenient transportation alternatives to get to the city. Taxis are a easy way to get to the city center and are readily available at the terminal exit. If you don’t have excess luggage another transportation alternative to get to the city is by metro or even bicycle. Other ways to get to the city center from the airport include bus, train, and rental car.

Metro

Newcastle Airport is directly connected to the metro line, making the metro easily accessible from the airport terminal. The metro, which runs every 12 minutes, provides quick transportation to main areas in the city like Haymarket Station and Central Station. The total trip takes about 25 minutes. The metro operates from 5:44 am to 11:58 pm. On Sundays the metro begins to run at 6:27 am.

Car

If you want to drive to the city center from the airport then follow road A696 and connect to the A1 motorway. If you’re not sure what route to take you can always ask for assistance at the airport. You can get a map or navigation device at the airport before you leave.  

It usually takes no more than 15 minutes to drive to Newcastle city center from the airport. The metro to the Central Train Station takes about 25 minutes. Once you get to the station you can easily purchase a train ticket from the automated ticket machines.

It takes about 30 minutes to get to Darlington from Newcastle Train Station. It takes 2 hours to get to Edinburgh by train, 3 hours to get to Glasgow by train, and 1.5 hours to get to Leeds by train.
