Buses and minibuses are used in Lusaka city centre for transport, however there are no direct buses or minibuses that take you from the city centre to Lusaka Airport. As result you will need to arrange your transport to the airport privately. If your hotel offers a transfer service then you can talk to them, or you can take a taxi from the city centre. Another option is to rent a car. It takes a maximum of 35 minutes to get to Lusaka Airport from central Lusaka.

You can use a taxi to get anywhere in Lusaka. They provide quick and affordable transport, and they’re also the ideal way of getting to Lusaka Airport from the city centre. It’s possible to reach Lusaka Airport in 35-40 minutes by paying something like 30-40 dollars. 

Car Rental

There are many local car rental agencies in Lusaka city centre. There aren’t as many foreign car rental agencies. In order to be able to leave the car that you pick up in the city centre at Lusaka Airport, the same agency has to have an office both in the city centre and in Lusaka Airport. You can pick from Avis or Europcar and make a pre-reservation before your flight. You can reach Lusaka Airport from city centre in 30 minutes by taking the Great E/T4 road.

Lusaka Airport, also known as Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, is located in Lusaka, which is the capital and biggest city of Zambia. It was known as Kenneth Kauda before 2011 and the name comes from the first president of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda. The airport has a potential to capacitate 2 million passengers per year is located right on the Great East Road, 27 southeast of the city centre. Some of the airlines that have direct flights to Lusaka Airport are Air Namibia, Airlink, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, Proflight Zambia, and South African Airways. You can fly directly to Zambia’s capital Lusaka from airports such as Windhoek-Hosea Kutako, Johannesburg-OR Tambo, Dubai, Dar es Salaam, Luanda and others. Lusaka Airport has been in service since 1967. Services at the airport include free Wi-Fi, tourist information, ATM machines, and resting lounges. In addition you can shop at Zambezi Jewels, Window into Africa, Flamingo Duy Free, Kingdom Venture and Newnachi, and get something to eat or drink at Cafe Expresso, Clay Oven, Tuku’s ya or Nsonge Walala Restaurant.

It is quite easy to reach the city center from LA/Ontario International Airport. You can get on the bus for an affordable journey. If you prefer a more comfortable and fast means of transportation, you can choose from taxi, minivan and shuttle services. Please keep in mind that many hotels in Ontario provide shuttle services at the airport. In addition to these transfer alternatives, you can also rent a car at the airport.

Taxi

Once you pick up your luggage, you will see the taxi stops at the exit of the baggage claim area. A taximeter is available in all taxis. If you are traveling as a crowded group that cannot fit into a single taxi, you can also take advantage of door-to-door minivan services in the same area.

Rent a car

For the passengers who want to rent a car, airport shuttles depart regularly in front of the passenger terminal building to the car rental center (ConRAC) where there are offices of 10 different car rental companies. Once you rent a car, you can reach the city center in less than 10 minutes by driving through E Holt Boulevard.

Bus

After getting on bus number 61 departing from the bus stops in front of the terminal building, you should transfer to bus 80 on Holt. You can reach the city center in half an hour in total.

Many hotels and motels in the city offer airport shuttle services. If your hotel provides a shuttle service and if you would like to take advantage of this service, you are recommended to make a reservation at least 72 hours in advance.

Shuttle Service

Airport shuttle services depart from 3 different points of the airport. You can take the shuttle services departing every 5 to 20 minutes from the 5th floor of the airport car park, from the car rental center or in front of the passenger terminal depending on the crowdedness. All shuttles are wheelchair accessible vehicles.

The passengers traveling as a crowded group and don't want to compromise on their comfort can enjoy comfortable transfer between the airport and the city center taking this exclusive service. Please keep in mind that you need to make a reservation in advance to take advantage of this service.
