About Afton
Located in Lincoln County, Wyoming, United States, Afton had a population of about 2 thousand people at the 2010 census. Afton is home to the world’s largest arch made from elk antlers; made of close to 3 thousand elk antlers it is 23 meters long and weights 15 tons.
The average temperature throughout the year will reach a high of 27 degrees in the summer and can drop to -15 degrees in the winter. Public education in the city is provided by the Lincoln County School District. The campus features the Afton Elementary School, Osmond Primary School, Star Valley Middle School, and Star Valley High School. Among the city’s famous natives is Rulon Gardner, who won a gold medal in wrestling at the 2000 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
