Benalmádena, among the oldest settlement areas of the history of humanity with 20 thousand-year-old roots, is connected to Málaga located in Andalusia. Urbanization and development gained momentum in the region when the Romans captured it during mining activities in the lands which the Phoenicians reigned in the seventh century. This region had been ruled by the Byzantine Empire for a while and then it was included in the borders of Andalusia. Approximately 60 thousand people live in the area, where a great urban transformation has been experienced recently.
While Benalmádena Pueblo is among the elite places of the area with its modern structures and archeological museum, Benalmádena Costa is the favorite place of the vacationers with its touristic facilities, discos and marina. The economy of this place relies on tourism incomes and potential growth is sustained with new tourism investments. Summers are hot and winters are mild in Benalmádena, where classic Mediterranean climate is prevalent.
