About Fahud
Fahud, a permanent oil camp and workplace in Oman, is located in central Oman. After the oil works started in 1954, the first oil well was established in 1957 at 12 thousand feet deep. However, with a dry depth here, very little oil can be extracted from the well. In 1964, as a result of work carried out a few hundred kilometers further, oil at a commercial value has been reached.
Today, Fahud is known as the headquarters of Petroleum Development Oman. In addition, the camps of labor and equipment suppliers in the region can also be found here. In the region where an extremely hot climate is experienced, the highest temperature is observed in June 2008 as 54 degrees Celsius.
