The town of Keswick, which has an excellent location on Skiddaw Hill, is known as the place where the most famous poets of England lived. The famous poets Southey and Samuel Coleridge lived in Keswick between 1803-1843 and 1800-1809 respectively. Keswick, which allowed more immigrants following these developments, became an important tourist destination in the course of time. After visiting Derwentwater Lake, one of the popular routes of ship tours, you can go to the valleys near Borrowdale and Buttermere. Castlerigg Stone Circle located on a hill that is 1 kilometer east of the town is an interesting structure consisting of 48 stones surrounded by a circle. Another place that you should visit in the town is Keswick Museum. Many valuable archeological remains are exhibited in Keswick Museum which was reopened after a long-lasting restoration. A great collection including the Neolithic axe excavated from Langdale valley, a 700-year-old mummified cat and the musical stones of Skiddaw are waiting for their visitors at the museum.

Whinlatter Forest Park, which is one of the most visited places of Keswick, is the only mountain forest of England. The summit of Whinlatter Forest Park, which is located about 7-8 km of Keswick center, has a height of 790 meters. It is possible to see red squirrels in any part of the forest park. You can rent a bicycle from Cyclewise in the park which has mountain bike paths. Lakes Distillery, which is the first and only distillery in Lake District, has become very popular since its opening in 2014. You can also find the best gin, vodka and whiskey brands of England in the “modern farm” built by “master distillers” team in 1850. You can visit the farm by joining the daily tours, taste the delicious products and buy the products that you like. The closest airport to Keswick is Blackpool International Airport which is 3-4 hours away from Keswick.
