About Kokshetau
Located in northern Kazakhstan, Kokshetau is the administrative center of the Akmola Region, which is in close proximity to the border. This quaint and organized city had a population of 132,426 thousand in 2009 is located about 300 km away from the capital Astana. Kokshetau is one of the country’s growing and developing city centers. Overall the city has a cool climate year-round, however temperatures during the winter can fall to -15 degrees. July and August are the hottest months of the year with temperatures averaging around 20 degrees, which is quite enjoyable.
A lot of food is produced in the city and its surroundings and this production has an important place in the city’s economy. The city is also known for its famous mineral waters that it produces and distributes to almost every region in the country. The city doesn’t have as many tourist attractions as the capital does. However, you can enjoy delicious Kazakh cuisine in the city, particularly at hotel restaurants. You can also find dishes from international cuisine, especially Chinese.
