A tiny village at the heart of the Swiss Alps, Lauterbrunnen is a centre of attraction for the locals and the tourists in both summer and winter thanks to its location at the heart of the Alps, though it lies at the bottom of the valley only 796 metre above the sea level. With its mountains covered with snow, very green areas, and chalets, Lauterbrunnen is a typical Swiss Alps village. The first place you must visit is the cliff upon which 72 waterfalls gush down. You can start the day by going on a hike here in a quite calm and peaceful way. Being the main mountain pass of Jungfrau, Lauterbrunnen is an ideal spot to watch the most well-known 3 mountains of the region, namely; Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau and to take a tour to the places nearby. You can spend a good time among the hotels, restaurants, cafes and choose souvenirs for your loved ones in the souvenir shops located in the main street of the village. For a tour in Alpin meadows, you can visit Lutschine Promade near Lutschine River either on foot or by bike. Following this trip, a typical Swiss meal or coffee in one of the cafes nearby can revive you.

Known as Europe’s biggest subterranean waterfall, Trummelbach Waterfall is within only 30-minute walking distance. Here, you can discover interesting forms of the rocks shaped by the waterfall, and listen to the relaxing voice of the water. Being a village closed to traffic, Mürren is a popular winter destination located on a plateau 850 metre above Lauterbrunnen. You can enjoy the fantastic view of this quiet and modest village or even go to Allmendhubel by funicular to get the best view. You can take a walk via Mürren Flower Trail with over 150 mountain flowers, and end your day with a beautiful meal in the restaurant at the top.  

You can go to Schilthorn by cable car to see the movie set used in James Bond movie in 1969 and participate in Bond-themed activities there. Moreover, you can both enjoy the view in the restaurant Bond preferred in the movie and order the same meal Bond ordered. Located right next to a rock massif, Thrill Walk offers you an experience of walk on a cliff with a 200-meter height. Upon this walk, you will reach an observation terrace with a marvellous view.

With a 20-minute helicopter tour, you can see the Alps and Great Aletsch Glacier from bird’s-eye-view. Called as the top of Europe, Jungfraujoch can be reached by train. You can find the highest train station and post office of Europe there. Along with the final part of the journey which goes through a tunnel carved in the mountain, the whole journey takes 90 minutes in total and afterwards, several fun activities are waiting for you at the end of this trip.

A trip to Alpine Garden in Schynige Platte might be a great idea for garden- and nature-lovers. Alpine Garden is a nature reserve with around 600 different Alpine plant species and it is open for visit from the end of May to the end of October each year. You can take a look at these rare species, and take a tour in the walking track. Alternatively, you can go to Interlaken from Lauterbrunnen to pay a short visit to this quite popular spot. You can walk around Thun and Brienz Lakes, and spend a good time in the restaurants nearby. If you intend to go on an extensive mountain bike tour, you can get the list of cycle paths with different difficulty levels to cycle in the Swiss Alps from the Tourist Information Office in Lauterbrunnen. The ideal period to visit Lauterbrunnen is from May to October.
