About Memmingen

Memmingen is one of the eastern border cities of Bavaria, located in the south of Germany. Located 140 kilometers from Munich, this Alpine city is the hometown of Badstuber, Roth and Götze, which are among the most important footballers of the country today. The city is also known as the ‘town of human rights’ because the first penned set of human rights, the Twelve Articles, was written here.

Bus

The most practical and affordable means of transportation from Memmingen Airport to the city center is by bus. Memmingen city buses depart from the bus stops located outside of the airport terminal building. Bus lines 2, 810, and 811 provide direct transportation to the city center in about 15 minutes. These 3 bus lines pass through the city center, the main railway station, and the Memmingen bus station. As of 2016, the fare was 3 euros.

In addition, there are also transfer/shuttle bus services that provide transportation to the city. Bus line 029, operated by Flixbus, also provides transportation to the city. This bus line travels in both directions so when you board make sure you get on the bus traveling in the direction of Oberstdorf. Stops along this route include Memmingen Airport, Memmingen 20 B, Kempten Central Station, Immenstadt, Sonthofen, Fischen Bf and Oberstdorf. Taxi

Taxis are a convenient transportation alternative to get to the city. There are standard taxis and shared taxis readily available at the terminal exit. It takes about 12 minutes to get to the city center from Memmingen Airport by taxi.

Rental Car

Another way to get to the city center from the airport is by rental car. Memmingen Airport is located at the Memmingen Ost exit on the A96 motorway. The airport is located in very close proximity to the city so it will take about 10 minutes to get there by car. The airport is also connected to the A7 motorway. There are many well-known international rental car companies at the airport, including Sixt, Hertz, Europcar, and Avis, as well as local rental car companies.
