Nafplio (or Nafplion), which is a seaside town situated in the Argolic Gulf of the Mora Peninsula in Greece, was the first capital of the country. Today, it is an important tourism center and only 2 hours away from Athens. Nafplion, which is under the influence of the Mediterranean climate, has an average temperature of 27-28 degrees in the summer months. The winter months are measured around 11 degrees and there is abundant rainfall.

Palamidi Castle is the first place to visit in Nafplio. The castle, which is reached after climbing up 857 stairs, which is known as 999, has a wonderful of the town. Old part of the town is well-preserved. Therefore, it is very rich in terms of architectural samples remaining from the Ottoman and Byzantine periods. This part of the town deserved to be discovered step by step. Bourtzi Island is on a close location to the town and it can be reached in a short time by boat. On the island, there is the Bourtzi Castle which has a great view of the town. In addition, Vouleftikon, which was built as a mosque and the first parliament building of Greece, is among the places to visit in Nafplio. Ayios Spyridon Church and Ayios Georgios Church, which are the architectural works of art belonging to the 17th and 18th centuries, are also worth seeing.

Swimming is also a common activity in Nafplio. There are many private and public beaches where you can enjoy the sun and sea. You can visit the small stores around Syntagma Square for buying souvenirs. The theatre located on this square is a mosque which was built during the Ottoman period. In a Greek tavern, you can enjoy your meal consisting of seafood especially octopus. You can eat your meal in accompany with ouzo if you consume alcohol.
