About Port De Paix
Port-de-Paix is a city of Haiti and is located on the Atlantic coast. Also, in the 19th century it served as a port, exporting bananas and coffee to other countries. In the ocean out in front of Port-de-Paix, Tortue island (La Tortue) is located and you can travel there by the boat services that start early in the morning. There is a small hotel for those who want to stay on the island. It is not only people that travel on the boats back and forth, goods transportation are also made. Agriculture is the main source of income in this city where fishing is common.
On the hills of Port-de-Paix, there are many large windmills built by the German development agency. While walking around the city, there are also many churches that you will see. For accommodation, you will find hotels on the shore front. The best hotels we can recommend are Rendez Vous and Hotel Holiday or Hotel de La Paix. In the city, there are also restaurants and bars.
The city is a bit troubled in terms of transportation and some roads are bad due to lack of maintenance. In the summer when the city is dry, the roads are dusty and in the winter when it rains, the roads become quite muddy. Also in the city of Port-de-Paix there is an airport.
