Balaton is a lakefront city in Hungary. It is the largest lake of Central Europe and one of the most important tourist destinations of Hungary. Despite meaning muddy lake, tourists visit this lake for swimming, fishing and doing water sports like sailing. It is one of the most touristic places of the country since Hungary is a landlocked country. Due to the lake there is a milder climate in the city. Winter is slightly warmer when compared to other Hungarian cities. In summer the water temperature of the lake is around 25 degrees and in winter it can freeze over from time to time.

Since there are many summer houses around the lake, the population increases in summer months. Visitors come to this city not only from Hungary, but also from other European cities.
