The Suvarnabhumi International Airport opened for international travel in 2006. The city’s first airport, Don Mueang International Airport, is a regional commuter flight hub and low-cost airline hub.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport handles the largest amount of international passengers entering the city, handling over 53 million passengers in 2012. Bangkok is a city with a population of 8 million. Like other South Asian countries, transportation within the city can be chaotic. However, transportation to and from the airport is extremely advanced and comfortable.

Rail

You can take buses 201 and 503 from the Royal Palace, National Museum, and Phara Nakhon, the historic city center, to Phaya Thai Station. From this station you can get to the airport in 17 minutes.

You can also get on the express line at Makkasan Station. Other lines take about 30 minutes to get to the airport.

Airport Services

There are vehicles that depart from Victory Monument, which is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the city, to the airport every 20 minutes. You can get to the airport using luxury minibuses or buses where you need to connect or transfer in between. Minibuses 550 and 551 will take you directly to the airport. The city of Bangkok experiences extremely hot temperatures and these vehicles were designed taking that fact into consideration. These vehicles are all air-conditioned, providing comfortable transportation for tourists.

From the historic city center (Phara Nakhon) take the Nakhon Sawan or Lan Luang bridges and connect to the Sirat Expressway, which has a toll. From here you need to take Motorway 7, which connects directly to the airport. After reaching the airport you can park your vehicle in one of the three parking lots, which have a total car park capacity of 5 thousand vehicles.

Transportation to Austin City Center from Airport

The city center can be reached quite quickly from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Buses and taxis are the most common means of transport but shuttle services can also be preferred due to their comfort. If you love luxury then there are plenty of limousine rental agencies to choose from. You can also rent a car and just use this as your main method of getting from place to place for your entire trip. If you have any questions then you can get information from the 'Visitors Information Center', which is in the baggage claim area.

Taxi

You can get to the city center in just 15 minutes from the airport by taxi. The lowest fare you can expect is $ 13.10. They can accept a maximum of 4 people and all of them accept card payments.

Shuttle Service

Once you’ve passed the baggage belt no. 1 in the baggage claim area then you’ll see the SuperShuttle table, which is where you can get tickets to make use of the airport shuttle service. The shuttle service vehicles are extremely comfortable and the prices are similar to taxi fares.

Limousine

There are more limousine rental agencies at the airport than what you can count at first glance. If you want to travel in luxury then you can rent a limousine from one of these agencies, but don’t forget that you need to book in advance.  

Car Rental

Once you exit arrivals, use one of the pedestrian walkways to cross the road and follow the ‘Rental Car Facility’ signs. You should find 13 different car rental companies and it’s possible to reach the city center in just 15 minutes in normal traffic conditions by following the TX-71 E motorway.

Bus

You can reach the city directly by taking one of the Capital Metro ‘Airport Downtown’ buses leaving from the terminal exit. You can spot these pretty easily as they are blue with big yellow writing on both sides. The bus reaches the city center in less than 30 minutes and departs every half an hour. The price for a one-way ticket is only $ 1.75. You should pay with exact change. Another alternative for using the bus is to get a passcard. There are convenient spaces in the bus for your luggage.
