Transportation to Airport from Havana City Center

Jose Marti Intl. Airport

The central terminals of major transport vehicles in Havana city plan are very close to each other. We can sort these means of transportation as taxi, bus, and train. Although they are less preferred, car rental and transfer vehicles are among the transportation options you can prefer. If you are not traveling with a tour group, you can also prefer traveling through alternative routes to see the unique beauties of Havana instead of more frequently used streets by individual transportation options. If you have Peso with you, you can take a bus, or you can take a taxi if you don't have any.

Taxi

You can trust all taxi drivers who have a special license in Havana. Taxis in the city serve in different colors. Those with black and yellow colors are known as tourist taxis. Also, taking the 1950s cabs called Almendron can provide you with an excellent experience. You can safely arrive at the airport after almost a 30-minute journey.

Bus

You can reach Jose Marti Airport after one-hour bus ride by taking a bus from the bus station or the bus stops in the city center. Please make sure you have enough Pesos to get on the buses that will take you to Terminal 1 of the airport. If you are going to make an international flight, you can transfer to the airport terminal 3 by the transfer buses provided free of charge.

Train

The train station, which has train services headed to many parts of the city, is located in the heart of the city. Train line 2 in the city center provides transportation up to Bejucal. It takes about 30 or 40 minutes to travel between the central station and the station in the Terminal 1 building by train. You should keep in mind that the train departures vary between 15 and 20 minutes and there are no train services after a certain hour in the evening.

Transfer Vehicles

You can make an online reservation to take advantage of transfer vehicles, or you can make payment in cash or by credit card at the office of the car rental company. Traffic congestion stands out as a big problem because Havana has a dense population. For this reason, you are recommended to set off at least half an hour earlier considering the morning traffic.

Rent a car

You can enjoy making a private journey by renting a car of any brand and model by taking the advantage of car rental option. Many high-quality companies provide this service in Havana. Cubacar, Rex, Havanautos and Via Transgaviota are some of these companies. Please keep in mind that renting a car may be risky for you because the streets are very similar to each other. Keeping this in mind, taking a taxi may be a more practical option.

Airport Information

Jose Marti Airport consists of five terminal buildings. Terminal 1 is used for domestic flights; Terminal 2 is used for private flight services; Terminal 3 is used for international flights; Terminal 4 hosts flights to Caribbean flights; and Terminal 5 is used for cargo flights.
