About Zilina

Situated in the north of Slovakia on the border between the Czech Republic and Poland, Zilina is one the most important industrial cities in Slovakia, which hosts the European assembly industry. The city, which was situated on the Vah River, is also on international roads on which truck shipping is made. The Korean car brand Kia has established an assembly and production facilities in Zilina with 1.5-billion dollar investment, while the neighboring city Ostrava in the Czech Republic hosts the facilities of Hyundai, the Kia's sister company. Zilina also hosts the engineering center of Siemens Mobile as well as the paper factories.

The historical city center of Zilina is also home to the longest trolleybus line in the world. St. Paul's Church, Andrej Hlinka Square, the Holy Trinity Church, Virgin Mary's Church, Budatin Church and Bojnice Castle are among other historic spots in the city center.

There is one airport in Zilina, which hosts thousands of businessmen, engineers, researchers and students come every year because the city is an important production center. Zilina Airport, which is located in Dolny Hricov area in the west of the city, is 15 kilometers away from the city. It is possible to reach the airport from the city center by bus.
